An excerpt from “A Cultural Fusion”

On October 2, 2016 friends and family gathered at Emerson Creek Pottery and Tearoom to celebrate the love between Radhika and Ryan, a couple living in the suburbs of Chicago. This couple’s big day was unlike any past wedding at Emerson Creek. Their wedding was a cultural fusion, bringing together Radhika’s Indian heritage and Ryan’s Michigan pride. “I wanted the wedding to tie my culture, Ryan’s love of his home state and the beauty of fall together in a unique and beautiful way,” says Radhika.

Emerson Creek perfectly matched the couple’s vision. Surrounded by wildflower prairies and rolling cornfields, this century-old farm property in Oswego, Illinois is seemingly worlds away from the hustle of the city. The venue brings together the comfort of the countryside and the elegance of a chic wedding venue.

The venue didn’t always look this way. In 2010, Emerson Creek’s owners Chris and Dave Demiduk transformed the dirt floor barn into an incredible event space. Soon after the Demiduks got engaged, they looked inside their barn and had a vision of their family and friends celebrating their nuptials, watching the sun set over the fields, and music and laughter filling the air. This was the beginning of the wedding business at Emerson Creek Pottery and Tearoom. Over the next two years, they stripped the dirt and debris from the barn, hung vintage chandeliers and added a stone patio to make this dream come true. In the fall of 2010, the Demiduks were wed at Emerson Creek. Six years later, Radhika and Ryan said their “I do’s” at this venue.
